1. Studies of 3d printing ceramics and how it apply on construction

ⓒ Olivier van Herpt

3D printing becomes an alternative way to construction, which ensures the precise and standardizes quality. The first 3D print house constructed on Dubai in 17 days with a very low cost, after that there are more cases built in China and Russia. However, the mass of the site limited because of the 3D print machine dimension. Also, the machine is very expensive which also increase the cost of construction.
We are thinking to create a 3D printed bricks from local soil, which solve the dimension limitation, at the same time quality is precise and cost is cheap. Several of 3D print material had been researched, and we found that two of them are more suitable, as they are reusable, plastic and ceramics.
Comparing ceramics and plastic, ceramics is more environmental friendly build material. Ceramics is a newer and natural 3D print material. It will avoid producing extra plastic waste to the environment; the product can be absorbed by vegetation and soil, which helps to release the solid waste pressure. To controlling ceramics, the key parameter is hardness and moisture; it takes time to let the lower part dry then print the above volume.
2. Plastic reuses and applies in Mui Wo

Mui Wo neighborhood produced a lot of plastic waste and can only be transport away from Lantau Island. We found that the recycle bin in Mui Wo are always full and people can’t do anything about it.
Mui Wo is a village area with lower density, that we think recycling can help to improve the community. Not only the pressure of solid waste will be release, the community also learned through the recycle process.
We want to create a proactive recycle process, the local family collected some plastic bottle, and then they bring to aehstudio, using the machine under instruction, and bring the plastic blocks and some new toys home. This will release the solid waste problem, and advance to the community.

3. Proposesd Abandon Village school Community project in Future
Wong Kung Tin Village is the part of the hiking trail. The village tried to improve the community, as they built Sakura tree on the paths and welcome people to enjoy. There is abandon school areas that was not used since 1983, hiking people like go inside and take a rest, we want to improve the quality of space, to make the people stay in a better public space. The project is simple, we want to keep the existing structure, and involving architecture student to design and construct.

4. Mui Wo Cattle HighBridge

Proposed an alternative circulation for Cattles and Visitors to go up to the Hill.
Avoid walking through the villages, the footbridge creates a relaxing sloping space, facilitated with shading canopy and sitting bench.
